As we approached my 25th birthday (and golden birthday), I took some time to reflect on my life so I thought I would create a post to highlight some of the most impactful things I have learned and applied to my life. So here we go!
- Having dreams you are actively pursuing can go a long way in life. Life can get boring if you aren’t pursuing something.
- Everyone’s life is hard, just a different version of hard. It’s not a comparison game. Lean on others to get through those times.
- Don’t be the person that complains about everything.
- Don’t design your ideal life on what society says it should be. Create the life you truly want.
- Be patient. Great things take time.
- Build a great network of people who care about seeing you happy. You don’t want to do life alone.
- Always be a long term optimist. Life is awful if you are always thinking and looking for the worst in people and situations.
- Be a good person and look out for others.
- Create good habits and take care of yourself. Workout, eat healthy, and focus on your mental health.
- Don’t take constructive criticism as a dig on yourself. Put your ego aside, listen, and improve.
- Experiences and time with others is so much more valuable than any material possession you can buy.
- Always say yes to meeting someone new. You never know where a new relationship can take you.
- Giveback where you can. Most of us are truly blessed, share it.
- Be genuinely interested in others people lives. You can learn so much from other peoples experiences.
- Trust your gut – it’s usually right.
- Invest in yourself.
- See every hardship as an opportunity to learn. You can always get better.
- If you feel like someone else is struggling, reach out and be there for them. Good friends see it and actively reach out to be there for each other.
- Find a community that shares similar interests. Whether it is religion, sports, work, etc. Find people to growth with.
- Take time to unwind and relax. Some of your best thinking comes when you are away from work.
- Don’t regret past decisions you have made. There is nothing you can do about it now, learn from it and move on with your life.
- Do the scary things in life. That’s where the most growth happens.
- Don’t worry about what random people think of you. It does not matter! Worry about how you and your loved one’s feel about you.
- Do what interests you the most.
- Sports are life! Well… not necessarily, but sports have shaped my life so much and I do not know what I would do without them.
