The 25 Most Impactful Things I Have Learned In The First 25 Years Of Life

As we approached my 25th birthday (and golden birthday), I took some time to reflect on my life so I thought I would create a post to highlight some of the most impactful things I have learned and applied to my life. So here we go!

  1. Having dreams you are actively pursuing can go a long way in life. Life can get boring if you aren’t pursuing something.
  2. Everyone’s life is hard, just a different version of hard. It’s not a comparison game. Lean on others to get through those times.
  3. Don’t be the person that complains about everything.
  4. Don’t design your ideal life on what society says it should be. Create the life you truly want.
  5. Be patient. Great things take time.
  6. Build a great network of people who care about seeing you happy. You don’t want to do life alone.
  7. Always be a long term optimist. Life is awful if you are always thinking and looking for the worst in people and situations.
  8. Be a good person and look out for others.
  9. Create good habits and take care of yourself. Workout, eat healthy, and focus on your mental health.
  10. Don’t take constructive criticism as a dig on yourself. Put your ego aside, listen, and improve.
  11. Experiences and time with others is so much more valuable than any material possession you can buy.
  12. Always say yes to meeting someone new. You never know where a new relationship can take you.
  13. Giveback where you can. Most of us are truly blessed, share it.
  14. Be genuinely interested in others people lives. You can learn so much from other peoples experiences.
  15. Trust your gut – it’s usually right.
  16. Invest in yourself.
  17. See every hardship as an opportunity to learn. You can always get better.
  18. If you feel like someone else is struggling, reach out and be there for them. Good friends see it and actively reach out to be there for each other.
  19. Find a community that shares similar interests. Whether it is religion, sports, work, etc. Find people to growth with.
  20. Take time to unwind and relax. Some of your best thinking comes when you are away from work.
  21. Don’t regret past decisions you have made. There is nothing you can do about it now, learn from it and move on with your life.
  22. Do the scary things in life. That’s where the most growth happens.
  23. Don’t worry about what random people think of you. It does not matter! Worry about how you and your loved one’s feel about you.
  24. Do what interests you the most.
  25. Sports are life! Well… not necessarily, but sports have shaped my life so much and I do not know what I would do without them.
